A Smattering of Different Topics

First, I want to thank everyone for the nice things you said in the comments about my birthday post. Having witnessed the birth of my own two babies,
I felt it was important on my own birthday to honour the woman who got me here, and this is one of my favourite pictures of her.

I found those glasses she's wearing in a box in our basement many years after she had died, and they were in their original case. I turned them into sunglasses for myself, and needless to say, they're my favourite of all the sunglasses I own. My wife would gladly verify this - I have way too many pairs of sunglasses. Of course, the frame for my Mom's glasses is now so old (probably from the 1940's) that it's hard to get replacement parts for them, so I don't wear them much anymore - for fear of breaking something on them that can't be fixed.

Liam and Morgan returned from the doctor's on Friday after being poked and prodded, weighed and measured, and receiving their most recent shots. Liam didn't even cry. He stopped babbling for the moment of 'impact', and then just kept on going. Morgan cried for all of three seconds, and was fine. Both of them were pooped after the doc visit, though, as you can see here -

Back on the subject of their measurements for a moment -
Morgan's weight is up to 14 lbs., 13 oz., and Liam is 17 lbs., 5 oz., so when you consider that Morgan came into the world at just under four pounds, and Liam was a little over 4.2, they've both come a long way since November 30/05.
They're catching up more and more to 'normal' sizes (anyone who's had preemie babies has seen the charts and graphs their babies have to measure up to), except for Liam's head. My boy has inherited a certain big-headedness from his father, apparently, and the circumference of his head is well beyond preemie. Certainly well ahead of the curve, but not quite off the chart. Hope he fills his big melon with more brains than Daddy did his.

Thanks From The Tinks!

I am always pleasantly surprised at the generosity of some people. Here in our little internet world, where I've only known Maria from Nat's web page, NatLauzon.com, (ed. link under "Links" section, r.h.side of this page), in her Infernal Journal (click on the Chinese food take-out container furthest to the right). Maria and her family were in Hamilton from Montreal (They drove! Two kids in the car! Six and a half hours either way! What brave and adventurous people!) to attend a wedding with 796 other people (Italians are off the hook when it comes to weddings, in case you didn't know), and they managed to drop by our house to see The Tinks and say hello just before heading back to La Belle Province. Of course, we've got our house upside-friggin'-down with crap all over the place, lookin' like rednecks with a load of junk on the front porch for pick-up on Monday, and a real estate agent looking around our basement when they arrive, and they've only a couple of minutes before they have to hit the road for the long drive back...yet, Maria - who only knows the world of The Tinks through this page, (Moster) Lene's Seated View Page (ed. also in the "Links" column on right), and that aforesaid character Nat - BRINGS US CLOTHES FOR THE BABIES! Roots Baby clothing, no less! Little kittens for Morgan and ducks for Liam. Thank you so much, Maria, and I wish we had another minute before you left so I'd have remembered to take your family's picture for the blog! Maria's kids were really happy to see the babies, which was kinda cool - to see kids take to babies like that.
You've got a great family, Maria.
Peter, I hope you all got home safe and sound, and the drive wasn't too stressful. ("Are we there yet? I'm hungry! I need to go to the bathroom!")

;-)

Have a great Monday, everyone.
